Marketing Intern

Phoenix is taking applications for a 2011 intern position in the marketing department. The intern will assist in various areas of administration and support, such as contributing to sales plans, performing outreach through social media, drafting outreach letters, creating fliers, helping with mailings, carrying out internet research, and assisting with other marketing and sales projects as needed.

Candidates should be creative, detail-oriented, and motivated. The ideal candidate should have basic computer proficiency and experience in an office setting. Bookstore experience is a plus. This position is unpaid, and we ask our interns to commit to working approximately 15 hours per week. This is a great opportunity to learn and gain experience in a progressive, nonprofit, independent publishing environment.

Editorial Interns

Phoenix is currently accepting applications for five internship position in the editorial department. Interns assist editorial staff by performing editorial-related tasks such as filing, internet research, and reading and responding to unsolicited manuscripts. Candidates should have a strong interest in book publishing, a dedication to social justice, outstanding reading/writing skills, and be highly self-motivated. Previous office experience and computer skill is preferred; a commitment to Beacon’s mission is required. Familiarity with blogs is a plus, as is a library card. This position is unpaid, and we ask our interns to commit to working approximately 12 hours per week. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn and gain experience in a progressive, non-profit, independent publishing environment.
